HERBS TO MAKE BREASTS BIGGER

Fenugreek seed may improve breast size and shape.

In theory, herbal breast enhancers act by triggering subtle hormonal changes similar to those seen in pregnant and lactating women. Because medicinal herbs are inexpensive and noninvasive, they are commonly viewed as an alternative to cosmetic surgery. Experts like Mayo Clinic internist Sandhya Pruthi warn that there is no scientific evidence to support the notion that any herb can increase breast growth. Furthermore, hormone-affecting herbs may stimulate the growth of estrogen-sensitive cancers. Consult your health-care provider before using any medicinal herb.

Fenugreek

This fragrant Ayurvedic herb has been used for centuries as a galactogogue, or breast-milk enhancer, according to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Fenugreek may make breasts bigger by mimicking the hormonal effects of lactation.

Blessed Thistle

Another traditional galactogogue, blessed thistle is associated with few side effects. Breastfeeding mothers traditionally consumed blessed thistle to improve the flow of blood and nutrients to breast tissue. The National Institutes of Health notes that blessed thistle's use in breast enhancement is entirely theoretical. Scientists have not investigated the relationship between blessed thistle and breast growth.

Fennel

A relative of the dill plant, fennel has been used for centuries as a women's health tonic. In 1980, a report published by the Journal of Ethnopharmacology revealed that three compounds in fennel--anethole, dianethole and photoanethole--are responsible for fennel's estrogenic effects.

Licorice

Like fennel, licorice contains anethole, dianethole and photoanethole and appears to influence hormone levels within the human body. The National Institutes of Health notes that some women experience increased levels of estrogen and prolactin--two hormones associated with breast growth--while taking licorice supplements.

Anise

This popular herbal flu-remedy may also increase breast growth in women. Anise and star-anise both owe their licorice-like flavor to a high concentration of anethole and other estrogen-influencing compounds.
